I don't know if anyone else will be interested in this, but it interests me so I am trying. McNews! Google has a new news service which is entirely compuetr generated... engines search other news sites for stories to link to around the clock. It's been going a week and first reports seem to be good... there are a few bugs but generally it seems to be working. as a professional journo an obvious question is if this can be done fro a website is there any reason why it can't be done for print/radio/TV... and how long is it before someone develops a computer which processes information like reporters do? I've always rubbished the idea that the Internet would replace traditional media... but somehow this is both an exciting and rather frightening development for me. I can't do links like clever Nattie but this is what I'm talking about.

I've been two and a half months out of work now, and a month home since my holiday and I must admit i'm getting a bit lonely. I'm not the sort that is good by myself too much and of course I am keeping in touch with friends and things but still, I'm by myself an awful lot (I live alone) and it's making me rather bad tempered and a bit depressed. So here we go: anyone any tips on combatting this? The job thing; they are still dithering though they are 99 percent certain of offering me a job. It looks likey to be casual work which is good in some ways (who wants to work 50/60 hour weeks?) but also insecure... one day they can just stop ringing me... anyone any thoughts on what I should do... I am thinking of going back to university but of course I can;t start there for six months!

Changing channels · As of next Monday I will no longer be giving traffic reports on WFAA, channel 8. They have decided to end their business relationship with Metro and consolidate more of their resources with WBAP radio.
You will now be able to hear my dulcet tones on KTVT, channel 11. I'm on during the CBS 11 Early Show from 5 to 7 a.m. and during local breaks in the network Early Show. I'll also be on during the 5 p.m. news.
Channel 11 is rapidly becoming the refuge for former Channel 8 employees. I'm glad to be joining them.
In other news... · As you may or may not know, I'm trying to visit every county in North America. I just updated my map of counties visited, and uploaded it here.

Hello all!!

I am in SUCH a great mood!! Got a raise last week! Nice quiet day at work tommorrow since one of my two doctors won't be in the office tommorrow and the weekend is but a few days away!

I'm not sure how many of you know this, but I spent 2 weeks in May/June of this year over in England visiting a fellow Old Guarder...Vanessa Emlich!! If you want to check out my very few pics, they are under http://photos.yahoo.com/jdemille

I'm off to Ottawa in a few weeks! I love travelling ;)

I'm too tired to post at length, but please read this and you'll know why I'm so damn happy at the moment. Now, however, this little soubrette has got to go to bed. Working my one full day in the week tomorrow (it's 12-4 the other four days).

This page seems to be playing up a bit, but hopefully working again right now? Just "worked" for the first time in a couple of months... producing on our radio show Morning Report. Unpaid, it was a sort of job trial. i think (?) I did OK though I won't hear for a bit I suppose. But it was great to be back at work and it felt right! Oh I hope it all works out...
